Methods of artistic research proliferate just as much as they remain confusing in their systematic diversity. There are systematic reasons for this. Artistic research projects must develop their methodology together with their object of research and, in a certain sense, 'tailor' it to the research movement they are aiming at. In this sense, there is no fixed arsenal of methods based on an academic 'agreement'.
The seminar, which focuses on reading and text study, attempts to create something like an initial orientation in this confusing situation. On the one hand, methodological principles will be extracted from existing publications, but also transferred from non-genuinely artistic research contexts in order to sketch out something like a methodological 'repertoire' - also in the form of an easily accessible digital archive - that opens up possibilities for independent methodological improvisations.
