- Description
The Elbphilharmonie obliges: Hamburg is becoming a city of music. On the way to this goal, witty and eloquent reflection on music is of central importance. Music journalism in particular has a responsibility to ensure that even complex artistic content is communicated and categorized in a fun and knowledgeable way, and that the development into a metropolis of music is accompanied in a constructively critical - i.e. not merely affirmative - manner. In their role as mediators between composers, performers and audiences, people who write professionally about music make a valuable contribution to sustainably anchoring and deepening an awareness of the arts. The focus of the seminar is on trying out journalistic formats: concert and opera reviews, interviews and portraits, commentary and news. Discussions on ethics and responsibility (towards whom?) and on the problematization of (emotional) closeness and (professional) distance in music journalism as well as the distinction between objective and subjective text types and writing attitudes are also part of the seminar content.
