Description

Ever wondered how to use Microtones to spice up your Jazz Harmonies? Us too! We are Rami and Freddi from "Hear Between The Lines" (https://www.youtube.com/c/HearBetweenTheLines) and are looking forward to a new semester with the Microtonal Ensemble. Popular jazz musicians like Jacob Collier, Larry Goldings or Jake Sherman have incorporated "microtones" in some of their works, but that's just the tip of the iceberg: Microtonal music offers us not only more colorful, new jazz harmonies, but also access to non-European music cultures whose "vocabulary" we want to learn in order to broaden our musical horizons.

The aim is to leave the standard 12-tone system to incorporate new sounds, modulations and overtones into our playing. At the end of the semester, we will be one of the few groups in the world to perform micro-harmonic jazz live on stage at Ensemble Night! Curious? Then take a look at our channel. Every instrument can play microtones, so everyone is welcome. Previous knowledge is not absolutely necessary. Nevertheless, please let us know your level of knowledge and your instrument if you want to take part!
