Musicians and artists are increasingly confronted with digitized archival and music sources, but dealing with these historical documents remains a challenge. In this seminar, paleographic skills and basic methods of historical source criticism will be taught using the example of selected sources from the 16th to 20th centuries. The focus of the seminar is on handwritten, music-related, German-language text sources, but depending on requirements, own source corpora from individual artistic research projects can also be made the subject of study.
