Acting entrance exam

The application period for the acting/BA course for the summer semester 2025 begins on 15.04.2024 and ends on 10.01.2025.

The following application steps must be completed by the application deadline for a successful application

• Receipt Online application incl. upload of supporting documents
• Receipt of application fee (payment information at the end of the completed and submitted online application)
• Upload video (see below)

Your application will only be considered if all the steps described have been completed in full within the application deadline and the online application, application fee and video have been received.

Below you will find further information on the requirements and other steps of the entrance examination.

For the entrance examinations for the acting/BA course, a total of three
roles from different eras of theater literature as well as a song or a poem (no self-written texts) must be prepared as repertoire.

At least one of the prepared roles should correspond to your age. You should be able to make a connection between the reality of your life and the role. Create concrete acting situations with a concern for your character. The entrance exam is not about reciting memorized texts.

Round 1 - entrance exam (video format):

Round 1 of the entrance exam takes place in digital form via pre-produced video.  

The video comprises a total of 10 minutes with the following content:

- two roles from your prepared repertoire (max. 4 minutes each)

- short introduction video ("About Me", max. 2 minutes)

Please note

• a role sheet/repertoire list must be presented at the beginning of the video recording (please hold this up to the camera at the beginning of the video/fade in your roles as text and announce your roles at the beginning of the video)
• the application material must be created or have been created exclusively for entrance examinations at drama schools (no recordings, recordings of performances or similar) and must not be older than three months
• A smartphone or computer camera is sufficient for the video recording. A good quality microphone is recommended, the microphone of a smartphone or computer is also sufficient. The acting scenes should only be recorded in the long shot (full body view); it is essential to ensure good lighting and recording quality. Cuts within the application video are only permitted between the contributions: (introduction - cut - role 1 - cut - role 2)
• Please only submit files in MP4 format within the application deadline and name the video file according to the following pattern: Bracht_Aicha-Maria_Schauspiel_mp4

According to current planning, the 2nd and 3rd round of the entrance examination for the Acting/BA degree program will take place in a face-to-face format. Please note that an invitation to the 2nd round will probably be sent out at the end of January/beginning of February  at the earliest.

The 2nd round is expected to take place in spring 2024.

We expect to announce the exact dates here ("News/Dates") at the end of January.

After the second round, you may receive an invitation to the 3rd round; you will find the exact schedule here ("News/Dates") from the end of January.

Requirements 2nd round: In the second round, you will show your entire repertoire in front of the entire commission. The commission may work with you on individual roles in this round. It is also possible that the commission will set you a task for the third round after you have passed the second round.

Requirements 3rd round: In the third round, you may also be given various improvisation tasks in the areas of acting / voice / speaking / singing and movement.

Dates:

The 2nd round of the entrance examination for the acting/BA course will take place from 12-16.02.2024 in presence form at the Theaterakademie of the HfMT HH (Wiesendamm 26). You will be invited for one day during this period.

The 3rd round will take place from 18-20.02.2024 at the Theaterakademie. You will be invited for all days.
