PROMOS

The "Programme to Increase the Mobility of German Students" (PROMOS) is an instrument to promote the internationalization of universities and their students in the context of the Bologna reform. The funds are provided by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research via the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

In contrast to the European Union's ERASMUS+ program, which primarily promotes mobility within Europe, PROMOS funds also support non-European measures (Europe only if Erasmus is excluded).

• Study visits:
  • Scholarships for semester stays of students (not doctoral candidates) of up to 6 months
  • Short scholarships for final theses at universities or companies (no doctoral candidates)Internships
• Internships for students (not doctoral candidates) for a minimum of 6 weeks to a maximum of 6 months: The measures can also be subsidized in the period between the Bachelor's degree and the start of a Master's degree program.
• Specialist courses / master classes (up to 6 weeks): Specialist courses include, for example, master classes, summer schools, workshops or similar events offered by universities or scientific organizations abroad.

Regularly enrolled students and doctoral candidates of the HfMT may apply if they

• have German citizenship or
• are equivalent to Germans according to § 8 paragraph 1 number 2 ff., paragraph 2, 2a and 3 BAföG (in this context, the wording of the law applies, to be found at: www.das-neue-bafoeg.de) or
• are enrolled as non-German students and graduates in a degree program at the HfMT with the aim of completing a degree or doctorate at the HfMT

For non-German nationals, stays in their home country are excluded. The home country is the country in which students/doctoral candidates have been predominantly resident for at least five years. In addition, funding should only be provided if the student's main place of residence is in Germany and there is a reasonable expectation that the student will return to Germany after their temporary stay abroad.

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) offers combined health, accident and personal liability insurance. Information can be obtained from the International Office or the DAAD.

According to the DAAD guidelines, the following criteria are decisive for the approval of funds from the PROMOS program:

• The qualifications/study performance of the applicant
• The relevance of the planned stay in relation to the previous studies
• Existing language skills that are relevant in the context of the planned stay

A committee will select from the applications received according to the above criteria. The applicant will be informed of the decision in writing at the end of April.
