Under the loving care of our elementary music teachers, 16 pupils from Hamburg embarked on a musical journey of discovery during the second week of the fall holidays. They made music with their bodies, instruments and voices, built instruments and learned to listen to and respect each other. After a week of daily improvising, exploring and rehearsing, the young guests took to the stage together with the students and showed siblings, parents and other interested parties the performance they had created.
The vacation project took place for the second time and is to be continued. It is advertised in the Hamburg Holiday Pass and is always fully booked very quickly.
Emilia Suchlich was born on December 2, 1997 and received her first trumpet lessons at the age of nine from her father, who is also a trumpet player. In the following years, she won 15 first prizes at Jugend musiziert and regularly took part in masterclasses. She has been studying in Prof. Matthias Höfs' class since October 2016 and was accepted as a scholarship holder of the German National Academic Foundation in March of this year. On November 25, she will be performing with her class at the Ernst Barlach Haus as part of the Klang & Form series.
Her recommendation for November:
You can hardly expect any other recommendation for November from a brass player than this concert: the students of the Dr. Langner Jazz Masters will be playing with Nils Landgren and Wolf Kerschek in the small Elphi Hall. Nils Landgren is not only an outstanding trombonist, but also performs on stage as a singer. His natural manner and lively music would actually be reason enough to come to the Elphi on this evening, but it is not the only one. The orchestral framework is provided by the Young North German Philharmonic Orchestra, which is an incredibly versatile orchestra and has already performed with Wolf Kerschek in Hamburg in August and October. To experience the HfMT Jazz Master students in action in this good company is one of the concert highlights for me in November.

Directing graduate Maurice Lenhard goes to the Stuttgart State Opera
He has just successfully brought his final study project - the production of the opera Simplicius Simplicissimus by Karl Amadeus Hartmann - to the stage of the Forum and is already on his way to Stuttgart, where he is looking forward to becoming part of the renowned Staatsoper ensemble as an assistant director from the end of 2018.
Congratulations to him!
Maurice Lenhard initially studied classical singing before deciding to study musical theater directing. His productions have been shown at the Stadttheater Rüsselsheim, Aschaffenburg, the Arena Leipzig and the Capitol Offenbach, among others. He has also worked as an assistant director at the Salzburg Festival, production manager at the Ruhrtriennale 2018, dramaturge for Demis Volpi and personal assistant to Lydia Steier.
