Dear friends of the HfMT,
HIGHLIGHTS IN FEBRUARY
on the roof of the future JazzHall
As cheerfully as Jan and Hauke make music here on the roof of the JazzHall, which is still under construction, the events of the coming days entice us.
Opera productions, symphony concerts and theater productions seem seductively normal and exude the scent of a flourishing three-division house. And what we have rehearsed under the strictest hygiene concepts can be experienced in the comfort of your own home:
On Friday, February 12, there will be Wagner's music drama "Das Rheingold" with the singers of the opera class in a version adapted to the opera concisa format. As a large-scale summer opera, the entire work was supposed to take to the stage last June and had to be canceled due to the pandemic.
With the detailed rehearsed production by our new professor Christian Poewe, with the costumes designed and completed by HAW students and a complete set design, we can now expect a slightly shortened version accompanied on the Steinway grand piano, lovingly captured for streaming by our webcast team.
Premiere fever is definitely in the air!
The university orchestra is now experienced in pandemic operations and will be performing its sixth symphony concert in the livestream on February 20. The program includes Debussy's "Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune", Beethoven's "Eroica" and, certainly the most interesting work of the evening, Henri Dutilleux's "Sur la même accord" for violin and orchestra. The soloist in this work, originally dedicated to Anne Sophie Mutter and premiered in 2002, is the young violinist Maxim Tzekov from Vienna, who is currently studying with Prof. Tanja Becker-Bender.
This year's final projects in the drama directing department have been grouped under the apt subtitle TROTZDEM and prove to be doubly true: a first attempt was canceled for known reasons, the second has now been saved for the livestream and deserves 'nevertheless' or 'all the more' or (even better) 'all the more' attention!
"Strandpenelum" is the last of five directorial works that we are showing at Kampnagel on 27.2. The work by young director Nora Kühnhold is a play development for teenagers and young adults, for queers and gangs, fantifas, living, lesbian and reading circles. Don't miss!
Circumstances continue to force us to the utmost, but what we do under the strictest precautions nevertheless nourishes us deeply and we are happy if we can share this with you.
Nothing can give more strength than the symphonic sounds of an orchestra playing Beethoven, which penetrate into the smallest cracks and measure, illuminate, fill and make every corner of a room blossom.
This carries and is beyond all doubt.
Let us be connected through art!
