The one-day installation and performance at close quarters, for which Phillip Krebs (Master's student of Prof. Gordon Kampe) embarked on an adventurous long-term project with pianist Neus Estarellas, will be premiered at the renowned ECLAT Festival for New Music in Stuttgart.
If you don't want to travel, you also have the chance to get to know the up-and-coming composer here: new works by HfMT composition students will be performed at "unbesockt/ ins Freie" on February 27. Philipp Krebs can be seen there with his work selbstportrait 4, mit C.I. ("this boy is only gonna break your heart") (2018) - Durational for a performer with peel-off beauty masks, electronics, video & private performance.
144 MUSICIANS WANTED
Symphony in the St. Pauli Elbtunnel
Who else would like to take part in the symphony in the St. Pauli Elbtunnel? Musicians (including amateurs) with enthusiasm for an innovative music project are cordially invited to join us on this promising journey through Hamburg's secret landmark:
Each of the two tunnels of the St. Pauli Elbtunnel stretches over a length of 430 meters. For the multimedia concerts on 25 and 26 May 2019, 144 musicians will be placed 6 meters apart in each of the two tunnels - the St. Pauli Elbtunnel will become an 860-metre-long, musically active space. In order to synchronize the instrumentalists and singers over such a long distance, tablet-based scores are used, which are individually controlled in real time by a server computer. Each performer receives an independent score voice on the tablet using specially developed software. To minimize latency, a network system connects the 144 tablets to the main server.
Strengthening self-esteem with music - that is the aim of a workshop taking place on February 1 and 2 at the Institute of Music Therapy with Anna Lisa Prechtl. The doctoral student at the Institute is currently researching the effectiveness of music therapy modules for 10-11-year-old girls and is also using this workshop to train multipliers for her research.
Music therapist Anandi Börnsen: " I chose the workshop because the focus is finally on the girls. In my day-to-day music therapy work, I'm often mainly concerned with boys. I think that strengthening self-esteem is an important topic for both sexes.
The participating music therapists are taught relevant theory on self-esteem, basic needs and developmental tasks in adolescence, but above all they are given specific topic-related ideas for playing with instruments, voice and body percussion, reflect on their own experiences in adolescence and practise self-esteem-boosting feedback.
The echt stark project is funded by the Ministry of Science, Research and Equality and the Andreas Tobias Kind Foundation.
MY HIGHLIGHT
Foto: Jonathan Miskolczy
Renato Wiedemann first studied in Lucerne with Prof. Sebastian Hamann and then with Prof. Christoph Schickedanz in Hamburg. He can be heard in his master's concert in violin on February 28 in the Spiegelsaal of the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg.
He recommends:
For me personally, Katrin Herwanger's final recital in February stands out. I'm just coming to the point where my studies are coming to an end after several years in a new city with many experiences and impressions. This special experience - musically presented in a recital - is often not only a great pleasure in the display of acquired skills, but also a formative and very personal moment in a musician's career. Today, I look back with pleasure on my own Bachelor's degree in Lucerne and at the same time look forward to my upcoming Master's degree. During my studies in Hamburg, I got to know Katrin not only as a very versatile and exciting person, but also as a mature cellist. We tried out, laughed and performed together in the string quartet for several semesters. I am looking forward to her recital on February 15 at 8 pm in the Mendelssohn Hall and would recommend everyone to come.
