PLAY WITH YOUR FINGERS AGAIN...
Dear friends of the HfMT,
The usual June showcase begins: in addition to the standard high density of examination and studio concerts, there is a wide variety of other presentations from our core areas of music, theater, education and science.
In terms of numbers, you can choose between 112 events. That's an average of almost 4 a day, sometimes 7 at peak times. 41 of these are examination concerts, 29 studio concerts, 7 theater productions, 1 orchestra concert, 6 opera performances, lectures, workshops and much more.
There is sure to be something for you!
MUSIC
The music in June is colorful: sometimes classical, sometimes modern, sometimes improvised or multimedia to interdisciplinary. From small and delicate to large and grandiose.
One of the highlights of the calendar is the summer opera, during which the singers of the opera class graduate. This year, director Christian Poewe is bringing Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro to the stage. Premiere is on June 5
From June to September, the Botanical Garden in Klein Flottbek opens its doors for concerts in the greenhouse. Pianists Fabian Gehring and Arda Mustafaoğlu will kick off the "Music and Poetry" series on June 2 with a concert entitled "Sinn - Sucht" (Meaning - Addiction) on the composers Frédéric Chopin and Alexander Scriabin. more
Inspired by the Vietnamese belief in a connection between the world of the dead and the living, composer Tam Thi Pham brings a multimedia dance theater piece to the Forum stage. In Parallel Worlds, dancers, singers and instrumentalists interact and create a very special experiential space through music, movement, sound, image and light. Parallel Worlds on June 17 at the Forum
The prizewinners' concerts of our in-house competitions are perfect for marveling and indulging. On June 19, the winners of this year's Elise Meyer Competition will present themselves in the categories of voice, string instruments, piano and wind instruments. On June 25, the focus will be entirely on the Lied duo genre, when the best of the best from this year's Gustav Mahler Lied Competition will once again demonstrate their skills.
THEATER
The new postgraduate project, funded by the Claussen Simon Foundation, gives HfMT directing graduates the opportunity to work on a professional production at the Junges SchauSpielHaus. The aim is to pursue a research-based approach in order to develop and test innovative forms of theater for a young audience. Director Dominique Enz was selected for the pilot project. Her play Out there deals with the social relationships of young people in the age of the internet and social media, combining experimental narrative styles with concrete scenic fantasies. The last performances can be seen on June 8, 9 and 11 at Studio Wiesendamm.
Nothing under the sun - Lessing's dramas are offers for discussion, his polemics are invitations to struggle for the truth. In this spirit, six directing and dramaturgy students will work together with costume design and stage design students from the HAW and HfBK on Gotthold Ephraim Lessing.
The Thalia Theater is showing the six productions 'Crash', 'HYPER RE: Emilia Galotti', 'Aufklärungsmaschine', 'Damon, oder die wahre Freundschaft', 'Emilia. A Tragedy in One Act' and 'Miss Sara Sampson' from June 17-20 on the stage in Gaußstraße.
SCIENCE
Even if we are mainly characterized by artistic performances, we would also like to warmly recommend our scientific contributions, which we occasionally make public and thus expressly address not only a specialist audience.
The Budgepalais: a stage for remembering - on June 3 and 6, we will once again be following in the footsteps of Emma and Henry Budge. In this series of lectures, we will focus on the memory of Jewish culture and music and the futile attempt to eradicate it.
In the music theory colloquium on 13 June, Prof. Reinhard Bahr and Dr. Benjamin Sprick will address the topic of virtual polyphony - Bach's suites for violoncello solo as an object of artistic research.
You can experience a mixture of research and concert in the lecture concerts of SPIIC (Studio for Polystylistic Improvisation and Interdisciplinary Crossover). The Listening to each other evening on June 17 can also be attended after the multimedia concert Parallel Worlds (see above).
