To round things off, we are sending a musical greeting from the Forum from the solidarity event <i>In Focus Iran: Music and art as a voice of protest</i> on November 27.

With "For dancing in the streets" as the first and "For freedom" as the last sentence, the song "Baraye" (translated into German as "for" or "because of") contains a collection of tweets that were posted on social media at the beginning of the protest movement in Iran, in which people describe their personal reasons for the protests and their desire for regime change in Iran.

The Iranian singer and composer Shervin Hajipour set these sentences to music in a song that quickly became an expression and anthem of the revolution. Shortly after its release, he was briefly imprisoned and the post was forced to be deleted, but the song has long since made its way: it is played on rooftops, in cars and in cafés in Iran, pupils write the words on blackboards, students sing the song on campus, exiled Iranians sing it at every demonstration...

Ali Abbasi Fard - a 7th semester drama student at the HfMT - interpreted the song for us. He was accompanied by Lucie Spedicato on the harp.
