Dear friends of the HfMT,

We're thinking big again at the end of the semester. Everyone who likes a lot of material on stage will get their money's worth here. The school musicians in particular are getting ready for their summer showcase and will be demonstrating their flair for program design and rousing moods with humor and precision at a high artistic level in various formations.

First, we recommend the dernière of our highly acclaimed Fledermaus. For Abendblatt critic Marcus Stäbler, it is "truly a hit: entertaining, witty and colorful with an ensemble almost bursting with enthusiasm."
We are delighted with the praise and the many enthusiastic reactions from our visitors. And indeed, we had a lot of fun at the last seven performances. We'll give it our all again on Sunday, there are still some tickets left:

In the concert by the school music orchestra, the budding teachers under the direction of Lorenz Nordmeyer and fellow students from their own ranks embark on a journey into "the New World". In addition to this classic work by Antonín Dvořák, the program includes two works by American composer Aaron Copland: "Billy the Kid" and "Rodeo" are ballet scores set in the Wild West of the late 19th century.

The HfMT symphony orchestra will follow with works by Mozart, Tchaikovsky and Beethoven. The cellist Olivia Jeremias and the oboist Guilherme Filipe Sousa will perform brilliantly as soloists. We will repeat the same concert on September 3 at the Elbphilharmonie as part of the Hamburg Philharmonic's Academy Concerts.

The SchuMu (school music) Big Band performs in the JazzHall and delights with swing, Latin, soul, disco and hip-hop, but especially with Michel Schroeder's arrangements of well-known pop songs, which are sung and "bombastically" staged by students. Enter:

And because they still have power: the absolute highlight of the season is the legendary summer concert of the Institute of School Music. What can we expect? Concentrated versatility and rousing performances at the highest level:
They (our school music students...) play song accompaniments and improvisations, compose, arrange and conduct their own works or arrangements. They sing, speak and dance, they play several instruments in a wide variety of instrumentations and styles and even involve the audience. You can sing along!

Tradition at the end of the semester: The annual incubator festival once again invites you to watch and linger this year. On July 14 and 15, the students of the Theaterakademie will present small remakes, exciting dazzling works, wild installations and unusual creations - simply everything that is fun and has otherwise not found a place in the current semester. Let us surprise you!
It's in the nature of things that we can't give much away yet. Now that the Academy has been out and about on numerous stages in the city in June, there's still a bit of sorting to do. Stay tuned. We will publish the program in the next few days.

We have presented everything big, but the small stuff is also fine and can be found in the events calendar as usual.

Two more weeks and then we'll go swimming...
Have a great summer!
Your HfMT
