PARTY TWO THREE
Dear friends of the HfMT,
We have put together our sincere recommendations for June.
This year's summer opera, 3 anniversaries, a theater festival, a singing festival and the Fête de la Musiqe make June a festive affair.
Take a quick look - there's already something for today...
Yours sincerely,
Your HfMT
ANNIVERSARY 1: 50 YEARS OF MUSIC THERAPY AT THE HFMT
It all began 50 years ago with the first music therapy seminars for students of music education and church music. Over the years, this has developed into the Institute for Music Therapy with its Master's degree program and lively research activities.
Congratulations and thank you dear colleagues for your valuable work!
Super spontaneous people can still join in the celebrations (without registering). After a review and interesting discussions with a view to the future, we look forward to a festive finale in the evening and open the stage as an open stage.

SUMMER OPERA - "THE HEDGEHOG ON THE MILKY WAY IS AHEAD"
Our opera ensemble can be seen three more times in Mozart's La Clemenza die Tito. With this year's summer opera, we have entered into competition with the Hamburg State Opera, which has put the same piece on the program.
The Hamburger Abendblatt commented: "Comparisons always fall short, and the comparison between a large opera house like the State Opera and a training institute does anyway. The rabbit and the hedgehog send their regards. But as far as the stage design and direction of the two Hamburg titans are concerned, the hedgehog from the Milky Way has the edge." Thank you Verena Fischer-Zernin for the appreciative review! In Concerti magazine, in addition to the "creamy vocal color and virtuosity of Titus, the crystal-clear articulation of Publio or the strong interpretation of Annio", the "interaction of the ensemble as a collective was emphasized as a strength"
What we are most pleased about, however, is the enthusiasm of the audience, which has given us the best atmosphere on all evenings so far.
La Clemenza di Tito by W.A. Mozart will be performed again on June 1, 3 and 5 at the Forum
ANNIVERSARY 2: KöRBER STUDIO JUNGE REGIE
For the 20th time, the Körber Studio Junge Regie is dedicated to the theater generation of the future. The festival has become a central platform for up-and-coming directors from German-speaking universities. Every year, over 200 students travel to Hamburg with their lecturers to present their theater works, to exchange ideas, to network and to enter into conversation with the audience.
At the interface between studying and entering the profession, the festival offers an insight into experimental theater languages as they are constantly developing at universities.
From June 4 to 9, the festival will present 13 works at the Thalia in Gaußstraße and on the Barmbek campus of the HfMT. The HfMT will enter the race on June 5 with the production I'm Thinking of Ending Things by Sophie Glaser.
VISIT THE LIGETI CENTER FOR THE FIRST TIME
Anyone who has not yet managed to take a look inside the ligeti zentrum - beautifully located on Harburg's inland port - will have two opportunities to do so in June.
As part of the blurred edges festival for contemporary music, resident artist Fredrik Mathias Josefson will be presenting electro-acoustic soundscapes.
Pupils from the Niels-Stensen-Gymnasium Harburg and singers from the HfMT worked together on the theme of "Welcome and Farewell" and will be presenting their very own playlist at the end.
And here's another tip for last-minute visitors: on the weekend of 1 and 2 June, Harburg celebrates the Harburg Inland Harbour Festival with 3 stages, a children's and family program and numerous historic ships, in which the ligeti zentrum also participates.

ANNIVERSARY 3: MUGI TURNS 20!
Some numbers: 600 lexical articles, 150 authors, 23 multimedia pages, 14 editors, 3 editors, 1 birthday girl.
MUGI (Music and Gender on the Internet) went online in 2004 as a freely accessible research and publication platform with the first articles and is now the oldest, still active online research project at the HfMT. The aim: to further develop musicological gender research in Europe and its anchoring in the discourse of musicology and cultural studies.
What was a pioneering act at the time, also with regard to the possibilities of the Internet, is now good practice and a necessity for the communication of scientifically sound research and reflection.
We are honoring the birthday boy with lectures, music and a roundtable. In the evening, pianist Lauma Skride will play Fanny Hensel's piano cycle "The Year".

FêTE DE LA MUSIQUE
When summer starts, it's time for the Fête de la Musique. This motto has been followed in France since the 80s. It has now become an international tradition and this year we have also joined in with the motto and are cooperating with the Institut français.
On this occasion, we are placing 2 of our concerts in this context. For this year's Fête de la Musique, the young students of the Andreas Frank Academy and the Cellomanifesto collective will be performing.
SINGING FESTIVAL OF VOICES
With Prima la Parola, we celebrate vocal music in different facets on two consecutive evenings.
While students from the classes of Prof. Burkhard Kehring (Song Interpretation) and Mariana Popova (vocal chamber music) explore the wide spectrum of song composition from the Romantic period to the present day, the second evening will feature exclusively British compositions from various eras. The historical performance practice class accompanied by the basso continuo class (directed by Prof. Mark Tucker and Prof. Isolde Kittel-Zerer) will present repertoire from 1600 to 1800, while the individual voice classes with piano accompaniment will focus on repertoire from 1800 to 2000.

THE SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA PLAYS BRUCKNER
Bruckner fans can get on their feet and take a sound bath with us when the symphony orchestra plays a full evening of his 5th Symphony.
Bruckner himself - also a jubilarian: he would have celebrated his 200th birthday this year - described the 5th as "his contrapuntal masterpiece". However, he never got to hear it himself. The premiere was some 20 years away and he was unable to attend for health reasons.
SAVE THE DATE - SUMMER PARTY
As the summer weekends are often planned early and we are currently in the middle of the festivities, we would like to point out in advance and with great anticipation that we will be holding a summer party on July 6. We will be opening our doors to friends, fans, good acquaintances and the curious from 3 p.m. to bring the semester to a close.
In addition to artistic performances, there will be a program for children, snacks & drinks and plenty of time to chat. A flea market and a raffle round off the fun. The program is still being developed and will be published on our website by 20 June. So mark your calendars with a heart!
WHAT ELSE IS GOING ON
can be found as usual in our online calendar of events.
We look forward to your visit!
