FINAL SPURT AND END-OF-SEMESTER PARTY

Dear friends of the HfMT,

In the last two weeks of the semester, we let it rip again, ring in the summer in large numbers, celebrate individual artistic performances in the examination evenings provided for this purpose, show six directorial works in the spirit of Romanticism, a sophisticated symposium and, as a highlight, celebrate a large, family-friendly and colorful summer festival together according to the principle "Open house - colorful program", with which we want to create spaces for encounters and where the soul can dangle.

Yes, and then, when everything seems to be done, the JazzHall really gets going again and sends a whole festival after it. And that has it all.

Let's go!
Your HfMT

CELEBRATING CLARENCE BARLOW

The symposium in honor of the composer, researcher, author and software developer Clarence Barlow at the ligeti zentrum on July 5 deserves attention.

Clarence Barlow - born in Calcutta and working in India, Germany, the USA and Spain - was a pioneer of computer music and conceptual art. He explored aspects of diversity and transculturality like no other. His works are controversial and inspire reflection on what a music theory that is not focused on the traditions of certain cultures could be like.
A highlight of the evening concert will be the performance of the piano piece Çoǧluotobüsişletmesi, which Barlow conceived on a journey through Anatolia and which is considered one of the most important examples of algorithmic composition.

COPECO - TALLINN/STOCKHOLM/LYON/HAMBURG

CoPeCo students, current year

Every two years, we host the "CoPeCos". The "CoPeCos" are the participants of the four-semester international CoPeCo (Contemporary Performance and Composition) course, which we run in cooperation with the universities in Tallinn (Eesti Muusika- ja Teatriakadeemia), Stockholm (Kungliga Musikhögskolan) and Lyon (Conservatoire National Superieur Musique et Danse).

The very international students will spend two years together at the four institutions, where they will be given an open platform for experimental artistic practice in a European environment. Over the course of this period, they will develop their own master's project, which will be performed at the final station - in Hamburg.

ROMANTIC EXPLORATIONS

Romance - that's kitsch. That is longing. It's resistance to normality. It's the swaying of things in the current of time. It was an upheaval whose aftershocks we can still feel. And we can rediscover it again and again.
The six graduates of the directing course follow this impulse in their Bachelor's productions and explore classics of the Romantic repertoire from today's perspective.

A total of 6 productions will be shown twice on 4 evenings in 3 performances each. They can be booked individually or together. It sounds complicated (and it is), but the event pages will guide you safely through the program.

SUMMER PARTY!

Eureka - what can we say?
We are so happy and already very excited.

On July 6, we will open our doors for an end-of-semester party and put on a colourful program for young and old. We will be celebrating in a relaxed atmosphere, both indoors and outdoors, from the afternoon until the warm summer night.

The program includes artistic presentations from the degree programs.
Outside the halls, the children's oasis, the in-house cake stand, a tombola and flea market, snacks and drinks (even the broadcast of the European Championship quarter finals) and much more ensure a good atmosphere and conviviality.

JAZZHALL SUMMERFESTIVAL - JAZZ IS FOR EVERYONE!

True to this motto, the JazzHall SummerFestival will take place for the first time from July 14-20, providing a summer stage for jazz in the heart of the city. The week-long festival is aimed at a broad audience and celebrates the colorful diversity of music.

With artists such as Silvan Strauss, Chris Cheek (Artist in Residence), Samantha Wright and the Cansu Arat Group, young and renowned, local and international jazz musicians not only perform together in the program, but also together on stage. The glass front of the JazzHall will be opened in the afternoon for the free open-air program, while indoor concerts with ticket sales will take place in the evening. As a bonus, there will be catering on the JazzHall meadow and a varied supporting program for families and children!

FURTHER RECOMMENDATIONS

Taleja Großmann

For us, they are somehow normal and the order of the day and also a matter that conforms to the rules... yet we never tire of lovingly staging them and warmly recommending them: The final concerts as part of the artistic vocal and instrumental training, such as
Piano recital by Chengcheng Zhang on July 2
Percussion recital by Taleja Großmann on July 3
Harpsichord recitalby Antónino Pedrosa on July 4
Organ recital by Alexander Wiegmann on July 8
Trombone recital by Vincent Löbner on July 20
and many more...

The participants of the project seminar Diversity in the ensemble have dealt with questions on the topic of diversity. We will experience a presentation of the results on July 4 in the foyer of the HfMT

In the summer months, we can always stroll into the Botanical Garden to enjoy concerts in the greenhouse as part of the Music & Poetry in the greenhouse. On July 4, we will be enchanted by an evening of songs about love.

We will experience an evening in the spirit of sensitivity in the concert Summer night and a band of roses. Students dedicate themselves to contemporary compositions in the context of Friedrich Gottlieb Klopstock's 300th birthday.
Klopstock in concert on July 12

Completely legendary and therefore already almost sold out is the annual summer concert of the Institute for School Music. This year it will take place on July 13 in the Forum.

We'll do a few more pirouettes and then we'll go into the summer break!
