ON "GO" WE'RE OFF!

Dear friends of the HfMT,

October is just around the corner and with it the start of the semester and lots of outstanding events that need to be attended.

OUT OUT OUT OUT!

The move to its new (and long-awaited!) premises seems to have refreshed rather than exhausted the Theaterakademie: It shines this month with no less than five productions. A grab bag...
From Chekhov's end-time play Three Sisters at the Thalia Theater to the popular Kiezstürmer by our young directors in St. Pauli and the director's audition at the new Barmbek campus to DRAMA! - Reflexionsraum für junge Theatermacher:innen, we are experiencing a rich mix of our theater degree courses. And anyone who wants to take a look at the new campus of the Theatre Academy and the Institute for Culture and Media Management is welcome to attend the opening weekend on 23 and 24 October.
"We want to get out, let go, dive in, lose our heads, take off and throw ourselves into the open arms of the theater without brakes." is the motto of our acting graduates and is also the slogan for this wild month of theater. more

THE LOST FATHER

If the image of our "Adidas" hero with selfie camera in the ankle-deep, nocturnal pond seems mysterious to you, you are exactly following the intention of director Jari Niesner, who is making a visual statement about Benjamin Helmer's philosophical musical drama The Prodigal Father: "In its various, symbolic levels of meaning, the photograph conveys the contradictory nature of Dostoyevsky's text and ultimately of our play: movement and rigidity, light and darkness, searching and finding, faith and despair come together -- the dialectic of life." Premiere is on October 6

EARLY MUSIC WEEK

In October, we can encounter early music with passion and understanding. A whole week of interdisciplinary thinking, working, contemplating and making music. Out of the niche and into the house. Prof. Peter Holtslag, who is responsible for the program, is delighted about this, because although "early music" is often played, it is often too little understood. Some of the events are open to a small number of external guests. more

BUTTERY SOFT TRUMPET SOUNDS

Emilia Suchlich (from Prof. Matthias Höfs' trumpet class) conveys her unbridled anticipation for the "Brass & Percussion" concerts on October 10 and 11 with promising enthusiasm:
"Brass and percussion, we are known from the very back corners of the orchestra. We are famous (or rather notorious) for second helpings, lack of attention (simply because of the distance!), stable liver values and a rather simple sense of humor. But above all, we are expected to be two things: dominant and tonic.
So it's high time that we too were allowed to play melodies, that the melodiousness of a euphonium solo reached the irritated ears of the audience, that angelic tubular bells rang out and butter-soft trumpet sounds were freed from the mulch of strings. And how beautiful do you think it will be!
See for yourself, come and see for yourself!" more

With this in mind: let yourself be seduced by a well-rested and freshly invigorated university. See you there!
